California Project LEAN (CPL) works with state and local physical activity and nutrition leaders to conduct programs in 12 regions throughout the state. A Statewide Steering Committeee composed of health, industry and non-profit representatives serve in an advisory capacity.

One of CPL's programs, Food on the Run, is active in 30 California high schools. The program is dedicated to increasing healthy eating and physical activity among underserved teens. Food on the Run trains teens on healthy eating and physical activity while preparing them to serve as policy change agents in their schools and communities.

CPL also serves as the California Nutrition Network's lead agency for community outreach. The Network is a social marketing campaign for healthy eating and physical activity among lower income families. CPL convenes local coalitions to promote campaign messages through the media, grocery stores and other community channels.
