Sugar Sweetened Beverages Counter-Advertising Campaign in San Francisco
California Project LEAN is funding the San Francisco Department of Public Health (SFDPH) to run a sugar sweetened beverages counter-advertising campaign. SFDPH will use the New York Department of Health and Mental Hygiene’s “Pouring on the Pounds” media campaign materials on billboards, transit, and other out of home locations in order to: educate city residents about the relationship of sugar sweetened beverages to obesity; reduce consumption of sugar-sweetened beverages; and shift public opinion regarding sugar sweetened beverages. Ads will run for a three month period of time beginning in February of 2009.
