Ida Miller Back to previous page "I try to select foods high in fiber, vegetables and not too much meat." Ida likes to keep updated about nutrition. She does this by using the menus and cooking tips she receives from the Women, Infants and Children (WIC) Supplemental Nutrition Program that helps pregnant women, new mothers and young children eat well and stay healthy. Ida's sister, Leonada, is health conscious and is trying to get Ida to switch to 1% milk. Ida says she listens to her sister and has definitely cut down on frying and serving red meat and pork products. "We eat a lot of chicken," Ida says. She also bakes, roasts and broils her meats. "My 2-year-old (Maliq) loves fruit." Some of Maliq's other favorites are broccoli, cauliflower, celery sticks and carrots. Before her weekly shopping trips, Ida makes menus for the week. Ida believes that planning meals helps her to be more economical. She has noticed a gradual change in her shopping habits. She is more conscious of what she feeds her family. Rialto, CA | |
